Sumou in Patchogue brings World Class Sushi to Suffolk County...

Sumou is he newish sushi restaraunt in East Patchougue. The scruffy outside betrays the buildings fast food origins and there is nothing to prepare one for the shock of the interior that is as sleek and attractive as the outside is grim and generic.

The food is easily the best oriental fare on Long Island. The sushi is unbelievably fresh and clean tasting and the tempura is perfectly flash fried. I have never been to a Japanese restaraunt with such a diverse sake selection and the flight of sake offering is a tremendous bargain at only 9 dollars.

The service is first rate as well with friendly, upbeat servers and well-timed food delivery. We have already been three times in the last month and each time there was a hip looking clientelle which is not the usual thing on Long Island (especially Suffolk). The restaraunt is also open late during the week (until 10) and later on the weekends (until 11). As a rule, it is not easy to find restaraunts that serve this late on Long Island.

No complaints-
