Lynn and I went to Prune near the East Village on her birthday. We had read about the restaraunt for awhile and had always had it on our "list." The place had won "Best Lunch" from New York magazine last year, and, Mark and Lynn being more apt to indulge in lunch than dinner were interested in venturing to the Lower East Side to see what the fuss was about.
A couple of surprises: The place is very small. It felt very much like the Canadian bistros we had just indulged in during our recent trip to Montreal. Another was that the waitresses were very cordial and warm which is always a help when we go into a new place (one had nicely recommended a nearby parking garage which was a huge help).
Lynn had skate wing and I had a sous chef salad. Both very simply prepared and fresh. As always, the drinks are what fascinate us and we both had perfect drinks for the cold holiday; Lynn a nice Manhattan and for me a very comforting Negroni.
