The Good Morning Cafe in Ballston Spa impresses Mark and Lynn....
Lynn and I spent a couple of days in Upstate New York near Saratoga. We have been to that area on a number of ocassions and have developed and cultivated some of our favorite "haunts." This time, however, we were thrilled to have the sense of discovery with The Good Morning Cafe in Ballston Spa.
The Cafe is located in a non-descript strip center but it has a warm atmosphere with a young, attractive staff. The menu has a variety of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free offerings many of them locally sourced. I had a great tofu scramble that was silky and filling without having the heft of a more conventional order of scrambled eggs. Lynn had "Eggs Un-Benedict" which had a healthy version of Hollandaise sauce (a well kept secret here) with smoked ham that was savory and peppery. I love Upstate New York but much of the food offerings there are "stick to your ribs" stuff so it is a relief to find comfort food in that region that is healthier and more thoughtfully prepared than usual....
